Intro/Storyline
OMEN II: The Afterlife
The battle against Satan was hard fought, and your victory enabled
mankind to reassemble it's broken existence into something more resembling
an ordered society. In the years that followed humans lived simple lives,
building small towns, farms and peaceful surroundings that could nurture the
healing process of the wounds that the dark forces of evil had gouged. Many
of the dark ones' former servants had remained in the Above World, though they
had mirculously transformed into docile and cherished creatures who would
bring awe to the townspeople with their acts of godlike miracles, and their
mystical powers.
But humans, as throughout their history, could not resist their
temptations of greed and lust, and it was only a matter of time before
someone discovered that deep in the unknown regions of dark forests and
underground caverns, lurked the remains of Satan's legacy, waiting for the
right time to seize control of the lands. Horrid imps, brutal demons, and
other wildly strange creatures that lived in near total darkness had been
in hiding ever since their master's demise. Creatures so vile and corrupt,
that they could not join their breathren's magical transformations. No,
these creatures were forever damned to be purely tortured and twisted souls,
who could not stand the sight of anything that was good or morally accepted.
Certain humans, possible former Magi, had felt betrayed, and useless in the
New Order, and with every passing day their jealousy and contempt for their
fellow man grew. Soon, they turned to the ways of the Dark Ones to give
them the power they so craved. Providing the imps with the necessary weapons
and information, they began to build their army, and one could feel the dark
cloud of despair spread and hang over the towns like a dense fog. At night,
screams and hideous laughter could be heard coming from the trees as the
imps began to raid the human settlements, stealing precious jewels, artifacts,
and even capturing the mystical healing creatures and holding them as
prisoners, to sacrifice to a new god, if they ever found one. After some
time, it was quite apparent that the Demon War was not over. Sickness and
disease began to infest itself with the population, many humans dying and
still many more afflicted with various forms of dementia, as the evil forces
spread themselves. Finally, the time was ripe, and the imps and demons
invaded the human settlements, killing nearly everyone, destroying all that
was...
When would this nightmare end? Your conciousness raged with confusion
as to what was real. Visions of demons and horrifying creatures filled
your eyes, blocking out any other thoughts you once had of normal life. Now
you knew that the real battle had begun, and instead of the war being fought
in the Bowels of Hell, it was right here in your own world. Armed with
the knowledge and power gained in your battle with Satan, you must do something
about it.

Character Classes
One of the main additions to Omen2 is multiple characters. The two classes
are fighter/mage and wizard. Each has his/her own weapons and abilities and
require different tactics to be successful with. There is also a third
character - the Demon which is for deathmatch only. In multiplayer you can
change characters with an impulse. In singleplayer you will select your
character on the start level.
Experience System
As you slay monsters you will become more and more skilled. As in most RPG's
you gain experience and when you have a certain amount, you go up a level.
Going up a level affects all kinds of things - your health increases, and
your weapons become stronger. For example, the fighter's arrows become
more accurate and can be shot farther with each level gained. The wizard
is able to shoot an increasing number of magic missles with each level. So,
it's in your best interest to kill everything. ;) Note that there are
experience penalties for doing dumb or evil things.
Control Notes
There are many impulses in the game, but you can find a complete list
if you press F1 and check out all the help screens. These are fairly self
explanatory, but I think buying items from townspeople might need some
explaining. When you go into the shops, some people will give you a list of
things they are selling. In front of each item will be a number which is it's
place in the list. On the other side of the item name will be an amount, in
gold, of the item. Press the 'buy item up' or 'item down' impulse to change
the number of the item you wish to buy. The number, of course, is the number
of the item in the list. Then hit the 'buy' impulse to actually purchase the
item. I usually assign the 'buy up' or 'buy down' impulses to the bracket keys.
In case you don't know how to bind an impulse to a key, just type (at the
console): BIND "IMPULSE XX" where xx is the number of the impulse.
Welcome to Llendor!
The town is one of the most important places in the game. You will
start here in the begining, and you will return here as you complete your
quests. In the town you can purchase weapons and ammo and recieve healing.
You will also have to go to the king/ruler and recieve your mission from him
and report back to him when you have finished it. As a side note, you can
also practice your archery skills on the target placed in the west hand side
of the town. Don't kill anyone in the town.. the inhabitants are fairly
intelligent.
Enemies
Fire Demon - The only monster you will recognize from the origional
Omen.
Demon - Humanoid demon dude wielding a sword and shield.
Imp - Mischevious little creature that hates all that is good and
pure. You will find these in many different flavors.
Mage - A dark servant imbued with the power of flight
Drax - Evil creatures which live beneath the earth in hives. They
usually collect riches and jewels.
Enemies not found in the demo:
Deep One - Strange spiked-blob creature whose touch is rumored to be
worse than death.
Zombie - These undead creatures are somehow connected to the Deep one.
?Boss? - ??
Items
Ammo
Arrows - Duh
Red Mana - magical spheres used for fire magic, exclusively by the
fighter/mage.
Blue Mana - magic used by the wizard
Yellow Mana - magic used by the wizard
Weapons
I don't want to spoil anything - it would probably be more fun just
to discover them. Not like it takes a genius or nuthin to figure them
out. If you really want a list of them, go to the in game help screens.'
Gold and Jewels
Pick these up for money...
Books
Sometimes these will contain a message, sometimes they will give
you experience... Some contain magic spells.
A note about GL
This patch may not be entirely compatible with GL. In fact, it might
be downright unplayable at times. We recommend running the game in
regular quake.
