SKY- DOOM1- EPISODE3
This is the sky from doom1 episode3 (the red mountain one).
In order to use the sky you need to create a directory off
of your "baseq2" directory and name it "env". you can then
reference the new sky in your map file by adding a "sky"
var and assigning it the value "doom1_". now all you have
to do is reference any sky that you please (ie "e1u1/sky1"...),
and the new sky will be used.
The conversion process was trying to say the least, but I
am generally pleased with the results. I am not exactly
sure why there are 2 copies of each section, but I think
it relates to gl texture mapping. I followed the format
set by id and all was well. I would also like to note for
anybody who should wish to undergo such an endevor, that
the corners and edges highlight and create unnatural
formations (corners and edges out of straight lines) and
should be compensated for.
the sky was created for a conversion of E3M1 of DOOM1 that
I was originaly working on for a YPOD map of my own. Since
the death of the YPOD project and due to the fact that I
could fix my map (move it down 1500 y units to make room
for the last 2 rooms on the top (OOPS!)) was to use the
everlovin' QE4 (and turn it into a quake 2 map). I tried
several other editors and they all created a multitude of
errors. Only QE4 worked, and I am moving on with Quake2.
I may re-translate it back to quake 1 and release it as
a map for YPOD independantly.
