ULTIMATE QUAKE
version 1.05 beta

Here is the almost finished version
of Ultimate Quake, version 5. Version
5 will be the LAST version released
by me. It will be out within a few
weeks. See the "What's Left" section
for what I'm working on to finish it.
Note that this is an all-in-one file,
meaning it will completely replace
any earlier versions of Ultimate Quake,
this is not an update. There will
be a v1.043-v1.05 update patch when
I release the final version of
v1.05. That version will also come
with the source .qc files.

WHAT'S NEW?
There are quite a few changes since
v1.043, and the .doc has been
completely revised for the 1.05
version, so all you who never read
it the first time- READ IT NOW!!!
Here are some of the new things just
to whet your appetite and get you to
download this 4.7MB file!
1. Added a Batleth for the Klingon.
2. Added a Longsword for some of
the warrior class humans.
3. Added a Fremen (from "Dune") skin
that comes with a Weirding Unit.
4. Added a Grappling Hook that will
electrically stun your enemies,
can pull you up, pull your
enemy to you, be shot down,
and you can lose it and someone
else can pick it up.
5. Added an Uzi for the Punisher-
very nasty!
6. Added two six-shooters for the
Gunslinger- he's deadly!
7. Added a jetpack, comes with Boba
Fett, but others can find it
where armor sometimes is.
8. Added a Shrinker Gun!
9. Added a new grenade weapon mode-
Bouncing Betties. If someone
steps on one, it arms. If they
step off of it, it pops up
in the air and explodes.
10. Did a lot of fine tuning on just about
everything- fixed a lot of small
bugs and poor design. Was really
able to playtest it a lot
especially DM).

INSTALLATION
As before, pretty straight-forward. Just:
1. Make a subdirectory in your Quake
directory and name it "Ultimate" or
"UltQuake" or whatever you like.
2. Move all of the .zip files in that subdir.
3. Pkunzip the files using the "-d" option
(e.g.: "pkunzip -d uqv5*.zip") OR
use WinZip and make sure that the
"Use Directory Names" option is
checked. This will ensure that you
get the proper sub directories,
"sound" and "progs" within your
new Ultimate Quake directory.
4. Now start the game by typing:
"quake -game XXXX" with "XXXX" being
the name of the subdirectory you
unzipped Ultimate Quake in. You
may want to make a batch file for
it (or a windows shortcut).
NOTE: If playing in windows, you MUST use
the "-winmem" option with a value of at least
10. Example:
"quake -game XXXX -winmem 10"
That is all!

WHAT'S LEFT?
If anyone has any specific skills
in any of these (especially 1-8)
and wants to help out, I'd be very
grateful!
1. Add Multiplayer Bots.
2. Add Capture the Flag support?
3. Maybe design a level specifically
made to showcase the special
Ultimate Quake abilitie players
now have. (This is where I need
level-masters! Please, anyone
interested in making levels,
give it a whack and let
me know!)
4. Try to reduce the lag time in
multiplayer- for some reason, it
runs fine in single-play, but
multiplayer lags a lot...
(using a P200 as server over
a direct connect to a P100)
5. Make an Alien (from the movie)
class? Need a .mdl.
6. New monsters?
7. Make the rest of the important stats
and parms carry over between
servers (so the Mutant can play
on more than one level).
8. Make sure teamplay works.
9. Still too many sounds on some
levels, going to have to cut
back on some.
10. Make sure the Predator Disc is
working 100% now, play test
and fine-tune.
11. Move around the IT_ items and weapons
so that all the weapons are
on .items2 and all the items on
.items- this way anyone can have
any singular weapon.
12. Fine Tune and finish Grappling Hook.
13. Make bloody skins for Batleth and
Longsword (the blood will drip off
and the skin will change as they
become clean- jumping in water
will clean them).
14. Make a V_chak.mdl for Xena when she's
holding the chakram.
15. Make sure the cheat command gives you
everything.
16. Make sure the Paladin's ressurection
works (and add "Hallelujah" sound
.wav)
17. Make all the weapons that can be dropped
able to be picked up and used by
anyone else (so if have more than
one special weapon on the 0 key,
make them cycle)
18. Maybe make falling damage even less?
